3. The Nobility
Tillbrook suggests that there are 6 reasons why Henry VIII bestowed large amounts of property on the nobility.
Create a different atmosphere among the aristocracy from that in his father’s reign.
Reward loyalty.
Ensure control in provincial areas
Show his generosity as a king.
Ensure he had nobles willing to follow him to war
Ensure he had homes if he travelled around the country.
Cut and organise in order of importance.
Explain/give examples to support each reason. (p97 – top of p99)
