18 The Itinerary Day 1 Monday 9th September 8.45pm
Children arrive at school usual time and bring their bags to either the Community Room, Upstairs Kitchen or the Library. Each class will have a designated place. Bring a packed lunch in a labelled disposable plastic bag (also include fruit/vegetables for a snack before they leave) and a refillable water bottle. Children go to class and ……plot their route to Colomendy and study the area on Ordnance Survey maps. Have a circle time about working as teams and expectations for the visit. 11.45 am: Start to collect bags and make their way down to the plaza where they will be allocated their coaches. 12.00pm-12.15pm: Leave school. 1.30pm: Arrive at Colomendy Have picnic on arrival. A site tour, icebreakers and room allocations. Activity 1 at 4.00pm…… Day 2 Tuesday 10th September 1.00pm: Children leave Colomendy to return to school by approximately 2.15pm. We ask that parents make arrangements to have their children picked up from school when they arrive back in Cheadle Hulme. Parents will be informed of safe arrival and approximate time of return via text.

19 Our Programme There is a huge wealth of activities available at Colomendy and we have asked for the following activities, though these aren’t guaranteed because timetables aren’t completed until a few weeks before we go. Zip Wire Raft Building Disco Kayaking or Canoeing Climbing Caving Aerial Walkway Aeroball If you go on the Kingswood/Colomendy website you can have a look at all of these activities.

20 We know how daunting it can be letting your child go on a residential visit, so we do everything we can to make it a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Our policies and procedures are designed to make sure we adhere to the highest safety standards at all times: Continual safety and first aid training for all staff Regular checks on equipment before and after every activity session Qualified First-Aider on centre 24/7 All staff are fully DBS checked. We create a warm, supportive environment for students so they quickly feel at home. All our activities are progressive, allowing students to join in at whatever level they’re comfortable with. We have found the best way to help children cope with being away from home is to keep them busy, having fun from dawn ‘til dusk. Kingswood cannot guarantee 100% safety for personal items brought onto centre and they will not be covered by insurance. It is therefore advisable to leave valuables – cameras, mobiles, iPods, MP3 players, computer games, jewellery - at home. A clearly named disposable camera is acceptable.
