2. 1) Start the ISA home page www. isa. org
1) Start the ISA home page While the page opens, mention that your objective is to present ISA member benefits available on the web page.
2) Find there the Benefits page, within the Membership menu on the left column. While the benefits page opens mention that most of the benefits you will present are available on line 24/7 via the internet.
3) Now we will just go through most of teh benefits, clicking in the corresponding links. Lets start with the automation standards.
Note: Due to the reduction of some benefits it may happen that you face some ISA members skeptic about the ISA benefits. Many ISA members consider the paper Intech and standards download as the main ISA benefits. This presentation should allow you to prove that this skepticism is not justified, that this benefits reduction is not as initially understood, and that not only those benefits just changed of appearance and are still available, but also that many other benefits are available and not used by members. These comments are more appropriated in a pure ISA members meeting.

3. A good starting point for the coming discussion: Read the note about copyright, immediately below the “Access ISA standards” button. At this time, just mention that copyright, later it will be the right time about this “detail”.

5. Here you may want to highlight to frequently mentioned standards, the 50 (that standardized the 4-20 mA signal) and the 100, which is standardizing the wireless communication.
After presenting this information, go back to the previous web page (in this presentation this is the next slide).

6. This would be a good time to talk about downloads and copyrights
This would be a good time to talk about downloads and copyrights. When ISA made available for free the standards, downloading them was the most logic technology. But this option does not allows members to share those downloads, as they are free for personal use and not to be send to others or be used by companies. Companies wanting to use those standards (including the ones where the members work) should buy those standards, available for non members and organization at published prices. Companies may find interesting to buy those standards using the IHS button that leads to ISA partner for standards selling, IHS.
Currently the online access to information becomes more and more used. Studies show that download sites (from legal on line downloads to pirate torrents) are being displaced by on line availability of information, like streaming. This trend is particularly strong in younger professionals. Also this technology reflects better the spirit of the availability of the standards to members, allowing free full access but not facility for sharing. The move from standard download to on line access simple reflects this change of trend, adapting the tool to the technology trends and the copyright spirit.
Still so, ISA offers the member standards download with a value equivalent to its yearly membership cost. This still can be useful for professionals wanting an off line access to some specific standards. But if a professional wants off line access (download) in excess to that value the standard must be bought.

Another benefit is the prerecorded web seminars. These seminars touch several trendy subjects in easy to assist seminars with video and English audio. Lets take a look on the alphabetical list!

9. Boiler control fundaments, DCS Alarm Assessment Overview, Foundation Fieldbus, Grounding... There is something ion for everybody! How many of you viewed at least one of these seminars?

We move now to the Intech magazine. If your audience is formed by ISA members, some of them may have bad feelings due to the reduction of Intech paper editions from 12 to 5 yearly editions. Actually, there are TWO Intech:
1) The paper Intech, an option only for PROFESSIONAL members
2) The digital Intech, for all members

19. Last point in today's agenda: leadership development
Last point in today's agenda: leadership development. This could be an interesting benefit for anyone that intends to move to a leadership position, at ISA, privately, or at your jobs! And even if you hold that position today, you may learn one or two things.

20. This is the concept. Basically, you have to apply for the program, and once accepted you have to qualify accumulating 50 points over 2 years. You earn the points by participating on live or recorded seminars, reading information, presenting information to other members, etc. All information for this program is on the site!
