What happened to the March Against Fear after James Meredith was shot? Why did Martin Luther King Jr. scold Stokely Carmichael? How did the crowd respond to Carmichael’s call for black power? In what ways does this speech reveal a turning point in the civil rights movement?

UNIT 13 TIMELINE “Event Cards”: Read Sections 46.2 to 46.4 starting on page 592. Complete the event cards as you read. Write in the Titles of the events from the list in your CH46 Notebook Guide. Match the Images to the events in the readings. Write the Date of the event on each card. Write 2-3 significant facts about each event. Do not cut out cards at this time.
