ABT Online depends heavily on its IT department for front-line support in delivering its core business of cloud-based managed services. Tristan Pascoe, Manager of IT and online services, who handled the day-to-day control of infrastructure and service delivery, was grappling with managing what he terms as a “fruit salad” data center environment comprised of technology added over 10 to 15. The organization stored data in quite a few different areas, making it hard to manage. Fourteen-hour data backups exposed ABT Online clients to the risk of significant data loss. Additionally, the company itself faced risk due to its technology’s age and limited interoperability, impacting management, complexity and cost.
