There is no such thing as a perfect mini grant. Built to last… We can’t do this by ourselves. We need the schools on our side.

How could you help solve those problems if you had a team and $2000?

Mini-grants – Requirements (the boring stuff)
Complete all the components of the application. The team must be led by a parent, student, grandparent or other family member; it must include at least one school official too. Have a team that includes at least 2 partners or organizations who attended the FLC Summit & Family Fest Find a 501(c)3 or parent group to receive funds Commit to a mid-year report and final report Commit to meeting with a lawmaker or your school board Communication between grant team/FLC/mini grant helper. Grant completed by August 2019. Matching. We want to see matching funds and in-kind donations! Mini-grants – Requirements (the boring stuff)

Each grant will receive a score on a scale of 0-100.

SPECIFIC MEASURABLE ATTAINABLE RELEVANT TIME-BOUND SMART GOALS

examples NOT SMART: We want some school gardens and a teacher- only bake sale. NOT SMART: Fight the drug epidemic. SMART: We will build a school garden with 20 raised beds, teach 5 students to farm each summer, and sell at least $5000 in produce in our first year year to the school, to grow the project. SMART: We will start a SADD chapter at our school, and work with at least half of our teachers to incorporate a proven substance abuse classroom activity, within the first year.

All Applications are due on November 7th by NOON!!! Notifications will go out by the end of November Checks will be mailed in November Remember… You will get a project helper once you receive your mini grant

What do I do right now? ASSESS YOUR SCHOOL Get Look Talk Follow Up
Fill out the school checklist ASSESS YOUR SCHOOL Get a couple other people on my team, starting with the school principal or teacher! Get Look for other ideas out there— Families Leading Change website, Parent Action for Wellness website, ask parents at other schools, etc. Look Talk to the PTO or PTA in your school if you have one; don’t reinvent the wheel! Talk Follow up with your group in the next 10 days Follow Up What do I do right now?
