Exploration of ADHD Subtype Definitions and Co-Occurring Psychopathology in a Missouri Population-Based Large Sibship Sample DOI: /sjcapp Relationship between severity and symptom type factors derived from the SWAN, and DSM-IV diagnosis. Each circle is an observation. Color indicates DSM-IV subtype (Blue= No diagnosis, Green= Inattentive, Orange= Hyperactive-Impulsive, Red= Combined type ADHD). Black lines: Created using linear regression of factor 2 on factor 1, using only those subjects with exactly 6 inattentive or exactly 6 hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. Some individuals in the center of the plot do not meet the DSM-IV symptom criterion (<6 symptoms in both categories), but actually have a total severity factor score equal to some individuals classified as having inattentive or hyperactive-impulsive type ADHD.
