1. Chief Justice – the judge presiding over the Supreme Court 
circuit courts - a court of law that meets at two or more places within a particular area  
civil case - A lawsuit brought to redress a private wrong such as breach of contract, encroachment, or negligence; or to enforce civil remedies such as compensation, damages, injunction. Also called civil action, civil proceedings, or civil suit. See also tort.
county courts - a local court which deals with private disputes between people, but does not deal with serious crimes  
court clerk - An officer of a court of justice who has charge of the clerical part of its business, who keeps its records and seal, issues process, enters judgments
court reporter - a person whose job it is to create official word-for-word transcripts of spoken words at trials, hearings, depositions, and other official proceedings
criminal case - A court proceeding in which a person who is charged with having committed or omitted an act against the community or state is brought to trial and either found not guilty or guilty and sentenced.
District Court of Appeals - A court of appeals is an intermediate level of court, between trial courts and the Supreme Court, which hears these cases on appeal from a lower court. Each state has its own court of appeals for cases involving state law.

2. Federalism - a system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units (like states or provinces). One example of this is the United States and the division of power between the national government and the state governments.
Florida Circuit Courts - state courts, and are trial courts of original jurisdiction for most controversies  
Florida Supreme Court - the highest court in the U.S. state of Florida. It consists of seven members—the Chief Justice and six Justices.
Judge - a public official authorized to decide questions bought before a court of justice  
Judicial Review - the power of a court to review a law or an official act of a government employee or agent  
Jurisdiction - the extent to which you have power to make legal decisions  
Jury - a sworn body of persons convened to render a rational, impartial verdict and a finding of fact on a legal question officially submitted to them  
Justice - the quality of being fair and reasonable; a judge or magistrate, in particular a judge of the Supreme Court of a country or state  
Original Jurisdiction - the power to hear a case for the first time, as opposed to appellate jurisdiction, when a higher court has the power to review a lower court's decision.
