Hello, class. There is no resource tomorrow. Therefore, I will give you the last portion of class today to work on any unfinished grammar or TDA work. If you are good on that front, then you will have SRR. Remember, all work from Monday and Tuesday is due back tomorrow!

Text- a book or other written or printed work; the actual words of an author’s work
Dependent- requiring someone or something for financial, emotional or other support
Analysis- detailed examination of the elements or structure of something

5. Keys to a TDA: Key #1
Figure out what the prompt is asking you to write about
Prompt: The drama focuses on events in the life of Ebenezer Scrooge. Write an essay analyzing how the structure of the drama emphasizes the change in Scrooge. Use evidence from the drama to support your response.
How is the drama (play) structured (organized)? How does Scrooge change in the play?
What evidence from the drama supports that change?

Figure out how you are going to organize your essay using a graphic organizer or rough draft (or both??)

Past- nothing can change a person like reflecting on one’s past or a trip down memory lane; there’s no place like home! Present- knowing what people really think about you, or how you are directly affecting people, can very much change one’s behavior/character– maybe connect to social media Future- death may not be feared, but dying alone is very undesirable, and leaving behind a terrible legacy isn’t much fun either

Refer to the text in all of your body paragraphs, but also keep your own voice!
Remember, this analysis is “Text-Dependent”… the text is your friend. Use it!
Example: Upon viewing the scene at Fezziwig’s, Scrooge clearly shows regret for his treatment of Cratchit when he professes that he wishes he could speak to his clerk for just a moment.
