Tuesday 3rd September Goslings Reopen!! A big welcome back to everyone returning for the last half term of the academic year. It is hard to believe some of our Gosling children will soon be moving onto pastures new! As the weather continues to warm up (fingers crossed) we do urge all children to bring a sun hat every session and have sun cream applied before attending if applicable. Staff will only be able to help to re-apply sun cream for the afternoon session if a named bottle and permission slip have been sent in. Please ask a member of staff if you are not sure. Please also ensure your child has a named water bottle each session. They can access the taps with support for refills anytime through the day. At the other end of the weather spectrum can you please also make sure all children have a waterproof coat at all times. It often becomes very difficult for us to access activities because some children do not have the appropriate clothing in setting. Indeed recently we have been unable to visit Forest School on some days because a large amount of children have not had coats in setting and it has been raining. If you have not yet returned your application for Gosling sessions for September can you please do so ASAP. Please also remember it is your responsibility to ensure any funding codes (30 hour) are in place before the beginning of the new term. Please visit the website for further details.

Pirate day: If you have not yet returned your form for Pirate Day can you please do so ASAP! Those children attending can of course dress up if they wish but we would ask that appropriate footwear, coats etc are still sent in. Target Tracker: Some parents have mentioned that they are not receiving notifications for the observations of children, We have been advised by Target Tracker that if they log in as normal the observations should be there. Apparently they are experiencing problems with the notification side and are looking into this. Please speak to Nicki if this continues to be an issue for you. Visits to the Lantern Reception classes Some of our children are moving to Owls and Kingfishers in September, they have been invited to a session on the 3rd July (am/pm). If your child has been invited during their usual Gosling session staff will take them to their classroom and return them to Goslings at the end. If your child is not due to attend Goslings for that period you will have to make your own arrangements for dropping off and collecting! The story afternoon on Thursday 13th is for a parent/carer to attend with their child. Unfortunately Gosling staff are unable to take any that are in setting. Please collect your child from Goslings just before 2pm for the event. Don’t forget Carl From CI Photography is coming on that day so if you want your child to join in a group photo (and they are not usually in Goslings on a Thursday) you may bring them at 1.30pm for a photo shoot before their visit to Reception! Please let Nicki know if you intend doing this please! Contact details: Please feel free to speak to a member of staff about any query you may have, if you prefer you can or ring : Any finance/funding queries can be ed to Goslings Senior Management Should the Pre-school team be unable to help you, or you feel that you require a more senior member of staff, Mr Lawrence(Principal) and Mrs Monks (Early Years Leader) can be contacted during school hours, via the main school office. The number for the Lantern Community Primary school is Mrs Monks is available on Wed-Friday. Please do feel free to come and say hello, introduce yourself or make an appointment if you need any further information or advice. Please note, forest school will begin again on Monday 5th November/Tuesday 6th November. (we visit on Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons) Please can you ensure your child comes to Goslings with the appropriate clothing for our visits. They will need long sleeved tops and trousers/leggings plus a warm/ waterproof coat. Gloves and hats are also Re If your child is absent through illness we ask that you inform us by telephone: We politely request that following any case of diarrhoea and/or vomiting children remain at home for 48 hours from the end of symptoms to prevent potential further infection spreading. FOTLS Just a reminder that FOTLS (Friends of The Lantern School) fundraise for Goslings too. As the pre-school is a non profit organisation FOTLS are essential in supporting us to improve the pre-school environment and to purchase special toys and resources. If you are able to spare any time to support the team with events and meetings we would love to hear from you. They have a Facebook page you may wish to join: FRIENDS OF THE LANTERN SCHOOL The forthcoming Fair is on Saturday 15th June, if you are able, please do come along and support the whole school in their fundraising efforts. Goslings staff are running a “Flip Flop Flinging stall” and would welcome any donations of old flip flops!! If you have any odd ones or old ones you don’t need please send them our way ASAP!! You should have received some raffle tickets which hopefully you are able to buy or sell! Please return any stubs/money to Goslings in an envelope by the 13th June! Personal items Can we politely request that children do not bring scooters/trikes etc. into the Goslings playground. There are covered bike areas in the car park where they can be left during the school day. Unfortunately staff cannot be held responsible for any property left in Goslings playground. Thank you. Polite reminders: Please can you ensure all water bottles, jumpers, sun hats and coats are named when they come into Goslings. It often becomes quite difficult and upsetting for children when there are several with the same item and they are not named! We visit Forest School on Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons; please ensure your child has the appropriate clothing for these sessions. Please can you help staff by encouraging your child to put their pink book in the basket above the drawers and their water bottles in the green trays near the sink. Thank you.
