1 The three pillars of QPC theoretical model
1 Attachment 2 Acting as a good parent 3 Offering permanency PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) attachment parenting is a style of parenting that fosters healthy attachment within young people. The idea behind is that the the staff-child, relationship should feel inherently safe to the child... physically, emotionally, and psychologically. The relationship serves as a "secure base" from which the young person will feel free to explore the world. Acting as a good parent builds on The Children Act (1989). In practice we use Authoritative Parenting, which is a parenting style characterised by high responsiveness and high demands. Authoritative parents are responsive to the child’s emotional needs while having high standards. They set limits and are very consistent in enforcing boundaries. Permanency means providing the young person with a genuine sense of security, continuity, stability and belonging. It means that they know where they are going to be living for the rest of their childhood and who their carers are going to be, and that their well-being matters to those people.
