Classes & Credits LHS Students enroll in 7 classes each school year
A student earns five (5) credits for each class successfully completed in a semester Successful completion is defined as a semester grade of “D” or better for high school credit Student Goal: complete 70 credits each school year

How to Earn Credits How many credits can you earn in a semester?
35 credits per semester 260 credits are required to graduate from LHS

Transcripts…The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
A transcript is your record of all of the courses taken in high school It is your responsibility to make sure all of the grades recorded are correct Transcripts are comprised of semester grades Each student must determine their path for graduation and their future! Staff is here to help ALL students succeed!

Specific Requirements for Class of 2023 (You!)
English 4 Years (40 credits) Math 2 Years (Int. Math 1 or Int. Math 1A & 1B required) (20 credits) Science 2 Years-physical & life science (20 credits) Social Science 3 Years (30 credits) Health/Driver’s Ed/Financial Lit. 1 Year (10 credits) VPA/CTE/LOTE Physical Education 2 Years (20 credits) Elective 110 Credits

College/University (CSU&UC) Admission Requirements
English 4 years Math 3 yrs. - Int. Math 1, 2, 3, 4 yrs. recommended Social Science 1 yr. World History 1 yr. US History Laboratory Science 1 yr.- Living Earth/Ag Living Earth, Anatomy, or BioTech 1 yr.-Chemistry/ Ag Chemistry or Physics Language Other Than English (LOTE) 2 yrs. in same Language, 3yrs recommended Visual/Performing Arts 1 year of one of the following classes: Drama, Music, Art, Ceramics, Floral, Const. Tech Electives 1 CSU/UC Approved

Academic Eligibility In order to participate in athletics & extra-curricular activities at Linden High School students must: Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. Receive no more than one “F” or “I” Entering Freshmen who do not have a 2.0 G.P.A. will be eligible on a probationary basis until the end of the first grading period.

Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
New science curriculum mandated by California Department of Education Earth Science concepts are now integrated into new science classes New names – The Living Earth/Ag. and the Living Earth; Chemistry in the Earth Systems/Ag. Chemistry in the Earth Systems; Physics in the Universe

Course Selection All students are required to enroll in 9th PE English
Science Living Earth Ag & the Living Earth Health/Driver’s Ed & Financial Literacy Skills 2 semester course One semester = Health, CPR/First Aid & Driver’s Ed One semester = Financial Awareness Skills Recommended freshman or sophomore year

Course Selection: Math
Math – 2 years required for graduation (3 years required for college) Options for freshmen: Integrated Math 1 or Integrated Math 1A Int. Math 1A + Int. Math 1B = 2 yrs. math for HS Diploma Must complete Int. Math 3 for 4-year college admission

Course Selection: Language Other Than English (LOTE)
Spanish 1 Recommend minimum grade of “B” or better in English class or teacher recommendation Plan on 30 minutes of studying/homework per night for success in this class Spanish 2 for Native Speakers Student must have oral proficiency of Spanish and know how to read, write and spell in Spanish

Career Technical Education (CTE) Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) Yearbook OR Journalism Must fill out application and seek approval Desire to work with others in groups/pairs, comfortable working with computer-page layout and strong writer English Elective (DOES NOT count for English credit)

All students are encouraged to complete CTE pathways! More career opportunities are available for pathway completers Employers and Colleges want to see that students take higher level CTE classes
