2 What is Patriotism Definition: love for or devotion to one's country Let’s look at the Pledge of Allegiance: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." ASK STUDENTS: Why do we say the Pledge of Allegiance in school? What does the flag stand for? Patriotism Quote: John F. Kennedy said “A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.”

How can you show your Patriotism? 4th of July parades Displaying the Flag Supporting our Troops Being politically active: Read about your rights to vote; Learn about our government. Supporting one another in a peaceful manner. Being Ok with different opinions.

4 Let’s Learn about Joseph Rodriguez and John Finn: How did they display Patriotism??
John Finn: Dropped out of school after 7th grade. Joined the Navy at age 17 and traveled extensively with the military. He was born in 1909 and died in He lived to more than 100 years!! On Dec. 1941, he was stationed in Kanoehe Bay, Hawaii. It was on this day that he went above and beyond! From the video you are about to to see, you will see that he is very strong and super sassy!

6 Joseph Rodriguez was working for an architect in San Bernardino, California.
He had gone to school for two years when he was drafted in 1950. On May 21, as part of an assault, Company F was trying to take the high ground north of the village of Nyunye-ri. Joseph Rodriguez and his platoon were in severe danger. On this day, Joseph Rodriguez was a complete hero, saving his platoon.
