Voice of God Keywords: Transmitter and receiver Listening
Providence and sovereignty Warning Salvation Relationship Interference There is a voice that existed from the beginning and the same voice that will be heard at the end of time. The voice of God carries the Word that is audible to our ears and reaches our heart to deliver His message; that we may have relationship with Him; be involve with His work; and reveal his purpose.

God’s voice was first heard in Genesis 1, during the creation
God’s voice was first heard in Genesis 1, during the creation. “God said…” is the usual start of the verse as He creates everything. Genesis 1:1-8 New International Version (NIV) The Beginning 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. His voice is so mighty that He only has to say it for everything to happen. This tells us how infinite He is and He has the sovereignty over everything. Of all He created, man is the pinnacle of His creation.

An Infinite God talks to finite man
As soon as the first Man and woman were created, God’s voice remains to rule and deliver message: His providence and sovereignty. The voice of His words also carries boundaries warning. Genesis 1:2-29 New International Version (NIV) So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground— everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis 2:15-17 New International Version (NIV) The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Too loud, busy and disrupting
Commitments, lifestyles, life objectives and worldly needs occupies us 24/7. Man’s busy life becomes loud and we entertain things according to its priority and how it will affect our life. Self or satan? We often pray and ask God for an “answer” but we sometimes become uncertain when His reply is quite difficult to understand. Satan has been interfering since the time of Adam and Eve. His deception carries on today in different ways to divert man from hearing God’s word. Psalm 46:10 (NIV) 10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” “Be still” comes from the Hebrew term “raphah” that refers to “slack, or to let drop, or in some instances, to be disheartened or weak”. When we slow down on our busy lives and free up our mind for a moment, it allows our selves to communicate with Him. We let our mind and heart to listen to His messages. When we find a place where silence is our only companion, the chance of distraction is less than when we are busy. It is more easy to map ourselves as a Christian and His message moving forward. God speak with gentle voice and in quiet place, Elijah learned it when he is almost in his desperation when he was unable to convert hi people from idolatry.

2010 LexisNexis survey Multitasking
Information Rage Impacting Australian Workers SYDNEY, October 20, 2010 – Almost half of Australian professionals are feeling demoralised from a data overload that threatens both work practices and output, potentially leading to ‘information rage.' The report also found that, of the countries surveyed (Australia, the United States, China, South Africa, United Kingdom), Australian workers are the most likely to admit that the amount of information they have to manage for their jobs has increased in the past five years (92%), with two-thirds (65%) saying the amount of information increased significantly. Compared to the other markets surveyed, Australians spend more time receiving and managing information (54%) than actually using that information (46%). The research also found: > 50% of Australian professionals say that on average, only about half of the information that comes their way every day at work is actually important to them getting their job done. > In Australia, only 40% of received is important to getting a worker’s job done – the lowest of any country polled. > 88% of Australian workers wish they could spend less time organising, and more time using, the information that comes their way. Multitasking A study conducted in 2009 by Clifford Nass, Ph.D., along with others, at Stanford University, showed that those who multitask more were distracted by irrelevant information stored in their short-term memory. He also found that they were worse at multitasking and bad at switching tasks. How long can you go without checking , or glancing at your smartphone? Clifford Nass, a psychology professor at Stanford University, says today's nonstop multitasking actually wastes more time than it saves—and he says there's evidence it may be killing our concentration and creativity too.

Too loud, busy and disrupting
1 Kings 19:9-18 New International Version (NIV) 9 There he went into a cave and spent the night. The Lord Appears to Elijah And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by. ”Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 15 The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17 Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. 18 Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”

We don’t know the source of the voice
Problem is, just what the Pharisees had, we are lacking of our knowledge about Jesus. He has been speaking to the Jews and Pharisees face to face but not only they discredit His words, they have diligently tried to prove that He is wrong and committing blasphemy. The transmitter has never changed, the receiver constantly does. Satan has been interfering since the time of Adam and Eve. His deception carries on today in different ways to divert man from hearing God’s word. Matthew 7:15 New International Version (NIV) True and False Prophets 15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. The Good Shepherd and His Sheep, John 10:1-6 NIV 1“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Build your relationship with Him
John 14:26 (NIV) 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. When we accept Jesus as our saviour, we open another chapter of our life, our spiritual life. Reading the Bible, the Word of God, is no longer as simple as reading out of interest but more of communicating with Him. The Holy Spirit is sent to us as our Councillor, a privilege for His followers. As it stays within us, it will help us understand the message of the Bible. While Jesus spoke the words 2000 years ago, the message that we are reading may fit to our personal situation, and in cases, the voice that we necessarily hear. Fellowship with same belief helps us to understand the message from the Bible. Brethren are another means of God talking to you, and at the same analogy, you are also one of God’s way for others to be able to hear His voice. The call center agent

Let us remember that our Lord is the best communicator
Let us remember that our Lord is the best communicator. He started preaching the Gospel at about 30 years of age (Luke 3:23) to a wide range of audience from Gentiles, Jews and scholars. The message from His voice was recorded in writing and made available to all generations who are to follow Him. Just like the transmitter and receiver of any telecommunication equipment, the receiver is often the first to be checked for faults in case of transmission error. We are surrounded with interferences but we were given ways to rectify them and be able to hear His message. Examine ourselves readiness to hear His voice and make it happen. In this ever increasing noisy world, more of listening is better than talking as the Lord already knows our needs. Acknowledge Him and see what He has done to your life. He made wonderful things to us before when we were not listening, how much more if we are?
