Overview of Presentation
Facts about Mount Garibaldi Potential Eruption Safety Precautions Damage of lava How Mount Garibaldi was formed.
3
Facts Mount Garibaldi is 80 km away from Vancouver.
Potentially active. Hasn’t erupted since 8051 B.C. Do not have much detail on what the eruption was like. Need to know what to do if it ever did erupt again.
4
Safety precautions If Mount Garibaldi erupted we would need to evacuate as quickly as possible. Only evacuate if told by authorities. When leaving grab a damp cloth or an emergency mask to help with breathing. Also should wear long sleeve and long pants and wear goggles or eyeglasses instead of contacts.
5
Potentially erupting Mount Garibaldi hasn’t been active for a very long time but that doesn’t mean it won’t still possibly erupt. Mount Garibaldi is a stratovolcano which means: A volcano built up of alternate layers of ash and lava. This also means the lava would move a lot faster than a normal volcano.
6
Damage of lava Lava can go to temperatures as high as 1,600F which would basically scorch your body and mostly likely kill you. When lava hits your body it kills you due to the heat overwhelming your organs. Lava will also destroy house or anything basically. Lava is molten rock.
7
How Mount Garibaldi was formed
Mount Garibaldi is what is called a stratovolcano which are most commonly found in subduction zones. Which is between 2 tectonic plates. Nobody knows how they came to be in the first place but they grow bigger every time they explode. When it explodes the molten lava hardens into rock which makes the volcano hotter and bigger.

Conclusion In conclusion that is why you should know that there is potentially active volcano near you and how it could damage you your house etc.
