1
Bell Ringer Have pencil, ruler, and a RAM-cleared calculator on your desk; You may silently work on the test as soon as you get it; You have 12 minutes from when the class bell rings.
2
Objectives SWBAT define polynomials; SWBAT use accurate terminology;
SWBAT classify polynomials.
3
Schedule Bell Ringer and 12 minutes on test/test turn in.
Notes on Polynomials; Degrees Terms Standard form Practice on classifying (Thursday more than likely)

Monomials Degree—Sum of Exponents.
(Red, pg 406; Orange, pg 476) A monomial is a number, a variable, or a product (multiplication!) of numbers and variables with whole-number exponents. Degree—Sum of Exponents.
6
Polynomials (Same pages) A polynomial is a monomial or a sum or difference of monomials [poly=many; nomial=term] Degree of a Polynomial is the term with the greatest degree (exponent); NOT the sum.
7
Polynomials Standard form of a polynomial—Terms are in order from greatest degree to least degree! Leading Coefficient—it’s the coefficient of the first term in a polynomial (standard form)
8
Classifying Polynomials Chart
