Squadron activities C/2nd Lt. Jamie Phillips

There is more outside of squadron meetings
Civil Air Patrol is what YOU make of it! Get involved! Start your own activities! Or find a squadron near you that hosts activities!

Color Guard Color guard focuses on the leadership and citizenship portion of the cadet program, areas which each squadron should work on throughout the year. Color guard experiences help cadet members feel like they are part of a team. Color guards are also an excellent way to present your unit to the community either by public appearances or public affairs releases of their accomplishments. Nighthawk Composite Squadron displays Color Guard before a church service Nighthawk Composite Squadron opens cadet meeting with Color Guard

Orientation Flights The cadet orientation flight program shares with cadets the thrill of flying. Every CAP cadet under age 18 is eligible for five flights in a powered aircraft, five flights in a glider aircraft, and an unlimited number of backseat flights when conditions allow.

Emergency Services Training
FTX--Cadet and senior members trained in various emergency services subjects while working in remote areas. Members learn to be self-sufficient for three days, functioning on what they could carry in their backpacks. The training emphasized locating missing aircraft presumed to have crashed. Classes included First Aid, field hygiene, personal safety, compass, maps, shelters, various techniques for locating clues leading to the discovery of aircraft or missing persons, etc.

Model Rocketry CAP's Model Rocketry program is an achievement program for cadets interested in the science, technology, and flight of model rockets. This is a very easy program to start up within the squadron because it is very cheap and fun.

First Aid training Some units and wings have made arrangements locally with the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council, or other providers though. This is typically done by having members become instructors so that they can provide training at minimal cost if any. Some communities also offer free training like this to the public and CAP members can often take advantage of it.

Survival Techniques FTX- Tests survival skills and helps cadets prepare for any possible situation in the field. Find cadets and senior members to organize a FTX focused on survival techniques.
