TEA Program and Curriculum Updates
CTE Cyber Security Pathway (18-19) Three courses that were previously not eligible for weighted CTE funding are now eligible See the “To The Administrator Addressed” letter dated April 15th for details CTE Programs of Study (19-20) New Data Element reported at the district level 52 programs from code table C220 Industry Certifications (19-20) No longer on the graduation/Leaver records New Effective Date of Licensure Reporting on Student Extension records allows for reporting prior to graduation

Campus Enrollment Type (19-20) New Data Element and Code Table C219 will identify how students’ enrollment to a campus is determined Zoned enrollment (no transfers), zoned enrollment (transfers allowed), open enrollment, selective enrollment, blended enrollment, ISS/DAEP/JJAEP Used for accountability purposes Alternative HS Graduation Entering 9th grade prior to 19 TAC Chapter 74, Subchapter BB, § Notify your counselors Maintain document to support decision to graduate or not to graduate a student

Language Programs LOTE Credit for dual language immersion Dual Language Immersion for 5 years earns HS credit for LOTE (19-20) Reported through TREX (elementary students earning HS graduation credit – put it on the AAR)

Language Programs LEP Indicator LEP=English Learner Non-LEP=English Proficient Exited=Reclassified Parental Permission Code Changes Codes B and F are retired, replaced with code K Codes E and J were updated to include “alternative language program” Bil/ESL Program type changes LEP terminology changes Alternative Language Program Data Element and Code table C221 added Home Language and Student Language definitions cleaned up Home Language Survey Date data element added to keep track of “original HLS”

SPED/LEP/Discipline – (19-20) Effective Dates of SPED and LEP identification will make reporting cleaner for TEA SPED data will now be reported in Summer PEIMS SPED and LEP data are removed from Discipline records Organization names and Effective dates will now be maintained in AskTED Org names no longer reported in PEIMS (19-20)

Dual Credit College courses are one semester courses (course sequence code 0) Old thought – Dual Credit course with course sequence code 0 must have college credit hours attached New thought – not necessarily Problem – over-reporting and under-reporting college credit hours Solution – convene a committee New Course Sequence codes for dual credit courses are coming – this summer

Action Reason Code 33 (tobacco) is gone for 19-20 Action Reason Code 34 (school gang violence) is gone for 19-20 Object Code Statutorily Required Public Notices Added in for Budget purposes Added in for Expenditure reporting in Mid-Year PEIMS Child Nutrition – NSLP See new coding chart drawing connections between traditional, Provision 2, and CEP programs with Eco Dis Coding Direct Cert list now includes reduced-price meal eligibility

This is a curriculum – teaching and learning – issue This is not a PEIMS issue, but… the “inch deep and mile wide” part of our jobs New PEIMS reporting requirement Number of students participating in an ELO Extended Day, Extended School Year, Structured Learning Programs outside the regular school day TEC (b) describes campus ELOs – refer your curriculum personnel here Reported in Summer and Extended Year PEIMS You must develop a line of communication with your curriculum personnel to gather this data for PEIMS reporting – new procedures required!
