Despite referring to her in the Gospels as “woman” instead of “mother”, there is no doubt that Jesus was very fond of Mary and that she was a firm believer in Him.

Jesus’ siblings were not yet believers in Him, so to leave Mary in their care would not go well.

48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”  Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in Heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

8. Jesus was showing us something important about God’s heart towards us: God cares about the details, the “small stuff” and concerns of our daily lives. In essence, Jesus is saying: “Mary, I love you. I care about your future. I’m going to make sure you’re taken care of.”
