Project History and Overview

Align technology investments with the business strategy Reduce complexity Minimize risk Project Objectives: Objective 1 Objective 2 Success Factors Customer needs – Describe the customers business goals. This is a ‘business’ list of bullets. It should not include specific technologies or specific products. Ask your self why the customer needs the technologies. What are the business problems that can be resolved? Project Objectives – Describe the project objectives that are identified to support/achieve some or all of the customer’s business goals. Critical Success Factors are elements that must be completed in order for the project to be considered complete. These are not necessarily all deliverables. Ask the customer – how would you define the project as a success? You will also need to determine how you will measure certain success factors. Example of measurements: Satisfaction survey Number of users on system Number of complaints Other Note: This may be two slides

Project Organization This is a diagram confirming the organization relationships and how the project will be structured. Should show lines of communication between the <Client> and <Partner> project teams.

Schedule and Milestones
This is a vision chart. Launch this diagram in Visio and update the time line and deliverables to fit your project. Depending on the project size you may select another presentation method.

Communication Plan <Partner> PM is primary point of contact for <Customer> Weekly status meetings (standing dial-in number) Status, schedule, issues Project management tracking documents Status reports, project schedule, risk & issue tracking Periodic core team reviews Client checkpoint meetings with <Customer> Steering committee meetings Continuous internal <Partner> review How is the Partner team going to communicate with <Customer>? Samples above. Who will be the point person for this project? How will status be communicated to management? How will status be communicated to the team (client and internal)? Will there be a steering committee? (This is recommended for larger projects) What is the process for deliverable delivery and communication?

Change Management To ensure that all parties understand the impact to resources, scope and timeline, a formal change management process will be required. Process Initiating a change request Core team review Impact analysis Cost regardless of implementation Project board review Final disposition

Risk and Issues Management
A Risk Management document will be initiated and managed throughout the project in order to monitor and manage the risks associated with the project. Three Major Risk Areas Business/technology/project execution Escalation Path Core team Project board Project risks include funding, schedule, contract, relationships and political risks. Technical risks may involve the risk of meeting a performance requirement.
