5 King Tut and King Akhenaten
King Tutankhamen was an Egyptian Pharaoh around 1334 BCE Became Pharaoh at the age of 9 (Text pg. 101) The diary of Howard Carter – November 26, 1923 DNA proved him to be the son of Akhenaton. Akhenaten (born Amenhotep IV) was the ruler circa 1351 – 1334 BCE – He forced a religious change when he moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes to Akhetaten. New religion was monotheistic – worshiping only Aton – the sun God Tut reversed Akhenaten’s religious reforms
