Further diversification in case of future Ukrainian corridor disruption/interruption.

3. Competition
Concern
Replace indigenous production and past relevant supply routes (Algerian gas) with new ones.
Need
Create further gas-to-gas competition.

4. Market Integration Concern
The present situation of persistence of a price spread between north-European most liquid gas hubs together with a decrease in transport capacity between those hubs and the PSV alongside an increasing tariff situation in this supply route is hampering Italian system integration in the European gas market.
Need
reduction of structural price spread between north-European gas hubs and PSV.

5. Sustainability Concern
Rising issues of decarbonisation of the national energy mix are pushing for a merging of gas and electricity sectors in a single interdependent one.
Need
Begin analysing and removing all possible barriers for gas and electricity sector coupling taking into account possible development of technologies to increment interdependency between those sectors (i.e. power to gas and other related technologies).
