2. Peace Be With You

3. John 20: 19 – 21
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

4. The disciples were filled with fear, anxiety, and uncertainty.

5. Expectations can lead us astray, causing more fear.

6. Jesus offers shalom: true peace

7. Shalom means complete, whole, well-being; to restore.

9. Jesus calms our fears.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.- John 14:27

10. Jesus brings healing through his blood.
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.- Colossians 1:19-20

11. Jesus brings restoration to broken relationships
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.- Romans 5:1

12. Just as the disciples were sent, so are we.

13. Peace takes work: humility, patience, love
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.- Matthew 5:8
