Survey March 11 Across Hasluck, Swan, Pearce, Cowan and Perth There were a lot of soft voters still open to be convinced 46% of soft voters cited the economy and jobs as the most important issue in deciding who to vote for out of 4 choices: economy and jobs, health and education, fairer taxes and border security. Soft voters were experiencing job insecurity and not having enough hours Half of the soft voters who were working were not confident of having their current job in a year’s time and half said they would like more hours

Survey April 29-30 Three weeks before the election
A lot of votes were moving in both directions but unfortunately the swing away from Labor was now larger than the swing to Labor, particularly in Hasluck and Pearce More than 15% of people in the survey were changing their effective 2 party vote. 64% of those swinging away from Labor cited the economy and jobs as the most important issue determining their vote from the 4 we tested. These additional swings were among young people and the middle age group at this time. Main issues for those moving to Labor were health and education and fairer taxes (from the 4 we tested) The Liberals were seen as having a better plan on jobs The Liberals were seen as having the better plan on tax
