2 Literary Device: Suspense
Suspense is the uncertainty or anxiety that a reader feels about what will happen next in a story. Any kind of writing that has a plot involves some suspense, but stories with an element of mystery or horror are particularly suspenseful.

3 Elaborate Write a quick paragraph about a story you’ve read, a show you’ve watched or a movie you’ve seen that you feel is an example of suspense. Don’t just tell me the title – explain what part you felt was the most suspenseful and why. This is three parts: name the title, describe what the suspenseful part is, explain how it’s suspenseful.

4 In Paranormal Activity 2, the movie relies on the element of suspense
In Paranormal Activity 2, the movie relies on the element of suspense. Throughout the movie you see many “live feeds” of video footage at night. Often, the audience sees just the “normal” scene of suburbia: a still pool, a calm front porch, or a kitchen and living room with nothing happening in them. Sometimes, an unseen entity will make items move, trip sensors, open doors, etc. You know this is suspenseful because, as the audience, you’re always waiting for something to happen to scare you, or take you off guard. At times, something does occur, but others nothing happens – leaving the audience in more suspense.
