2 Innovation Design approach
KEYSTONE Community Lab Source: Banksy Innovation Problem: marginalised young people are disengaged from innovation processes that will shape their future. Solution: create a space where young people ‘on the margins’ become co-designers of social innovations Innovation: a creative ‘holding environment’ combining digital technologies with design-led co-production Design approach Design vision: design as bottom-up, community social capital Design approaches implemented: participatory action research; brainstorming; role playing Who is involved in design: marginalised youth; creatives; youth services; community leaders

3 Relation to the urbanscape Scaling up prospects
KEYSTONE Community Lab Relation to the urbanscape The project aims to improve local facilities and services by filling the gaps caused by youth service cuts and adding a new urban asset - KEYSTONE Community Lab - which in turn will add to community social capital. The Lab will act as a focus for cultural events, showcasing the work of participating young people. The Lab will develop solutions to urban problems – like crime and anti- social behaviour. Scaling up prospects We will develop a ‘Theory of Change’ for the Community Lab. This will show how inputs (time, money, people) lead to outputs, then outcomes and impacts. Evaluation data will be applied to assess the ‘replication potential’ of the Lab. A Social Return on Investment (SROI) method will assess the potential economic impact of the Lab.
