Outdoor Education Activities
All of the outdoor education activities are run by Danbury Outdoors and accompanied by a member of school staff. The sessions are run in groups of 10, so all pupils will receive plenty of instruction and time to complete the activities.

Kit List Although the kit list is substantial, the only specialist equipment required is a sleeping bag and blanket. Waterproofs, sun hats and suitable footwear!

First Aid Mrs Deighton is First Aider for the week.
Hot weather – water bottle, sun cream and sun hat. Asthma and hay fever sufferers All medication to main reception on Monday morning. All medicines in a container clearly marked with students: Name Form Tent Number And clear instructions as to when they are to be administered and the dosage. Asthma – I must be given a spare Blue inhaler they may carry one also. Preventers are to come to me so they can be reminded to take them at the correct time. Hayfever – please hand in their regular antihistamine medication to me also so they can be reminded to take it. Headaches – If they regularly suffer from headaches please hand into me their usual medication for this all whether it is calpol or paracetamol. We will speak to parents tonight who have any concerns about medical issues. Mobile phone for contact in emergency Personal Issues

In Case of Emergency If you need to contact a child, then the following needs to be adhered to: During school hours (8:00am – 5:00pm) please contact the school who will then pass on a message. Out of school hours, please contact the school mobile phone which will be on for EMERGENCIES ONLY. Arrangements can then be made depending on the situation.

In Case of Emergency If there is an emergency at camp, then the following will be put into action: During the day the school will be contacted and messages passed onto parents. In the evening, the point of contact will be the school mobile phone on We will also contact parents directly from camp if there is an emergency. If there are any changes to any of your contact details, please inform the school. We will contact the school on a daily basis to inform of our current situation and to collect any messages from parents.

Dietary requirements Students should be responsible for making Mrs Abbott aware of who they are and what the needs are. Only those with medical dietary requirements.

Tuck We offer a tuck shop each evening for pupils.
They will be allowed to chose up to 3 items per evening. The cost of this is included in the total price so no money is required.

Competitions Tent Inspection.
Marks out of 10 for the organisation, tidiness and construction of your tent. Squirrel Award. This award is presented to the most helpful tent over the course of the week. You can be awarded merit marks by any member of staff throughout the week and these are recorded by Mrs Abbott. Entertainment Thursday night is entertainment evening and YOU provide the entertainment! Everybody who takes part in the evening receives points for their production. All the acts are judged and points are awarded. Racketball Competition This competition is run in tent groups and points are awarded according to the finishing position in the tournament. Camper of the Week Each member of staff will nominate someone who they think has excelled at camp. This can be for a single act of excellence or for an entire week of hard work, teamwork and all with a good sense of humour. Best Tent At the end of the week, all of the points you have earned for your tent will be added up to reveal the winners of the prestigious award of Best Tent 2019.

Safety at Camp Danbury Camp Rules
No radios, mp3’s, mobile phones or electronic games. No jewellery or make up etc Take nothing of value No glass bottles Keep the site clear of rubbish at all times Never walk through another site that is occupied Walk around the site instead of running You MUST NOT visit other people’s tents. Boys cannot go into girl’s tents and vice versa. No noise at night. Keep your tent clean and organised Safety at Camp 3 blasts on the whistle mean return to camp at once Maintain your tent, keep checking pegs, ropes and poles Keep bedding and clothes away from the sides of the tent DO NOT GO ANWHERE ON YOUR OWN – always go in 4’s and only after you have told a member of staff where you are going.

Arriving on Monday morning
Please arrive and bring yourself to the main hall at 9:00am You will be directed where to put your bags etc. Loading of the coaches will start at 9:45am.

Collecting your child At the end of the week we will return to school by approximately 12:00 noon. Students will be allowed to leave with parents. Students will wait on the field or sports hall and sign out via staff when leaving. Special exceptions will be made but we will need written confirmation handed in prior to departure informing us that it is ok for your child to leave. If not collected, students will be allowed to leave at normal school time of 3.15pm.
