2 July 19 doc.: IEEE /424r1 March 2006 TG4a Scope This project will define an alternative PHY clause for a data communication standard with precision ranging, extended range, enhanced robustness and mobility as an amendment to standard Jay Bain & Vern Brethour Stuart J. Kerry - Philips Semiconductors, Inc.

3 July 19 doc.: IEEE /424r1 March 2006 TG4a Purpose To provide an international standard for an ultra low complexity, ultra low cost, ultra low power consumption alternate PHY for (comparable to the goals for ). To satisfy an evolutionary set of industrial and consumer requirements for WPAN communications, the precision ranging capability will be accurate to one meter or better, and the communication range, robustness and mobility improved over The project will address the requirements to support coexisting networks of sensors, controllers, logistic and peripheral devices in multiple compliant co-located systems. Jay Bain & Vern Brethour Stuart J. Kerry - Philips Semiconductors, Inc.

4 Our members participate as very unique individuals.
July 19 doc.: IEEE /424r1 March 2006 For the entire week, there were no discussions in TG4a that would have violated IEEE anti-trust guidelines. Our members participate as very unique individuals. Jay Bain & Vern Brethour 26 Stuart J. Kerry - Philips Semiconductors, Inc.

5 March 2006 We received informal updates on regulatory developments as they apply to UWB. Of particular interest was a call for public comment that was released by the Japanese MIC regarding UWB. Jay Bain & Vern Brethour

6 TG4a is a hard working bunch.
March 2006 TG4a is a hard working bunch. We met in every available time slot. We had an night session on Tuesday evening to resolve additional no-votes. Jay Bain & Vern Brethour

7 TG4a is a productive bunch.
March 2006 TG4a is a productive bunch. We resolved all major technical issues adequately for the Technical Editors. We tabled discussion of any technical response to the MIC draft regulations until the Jacksonville meeting. (It is expected that the MIC rules will be more clear in May.) Jay Bain & Vern Brethour

8 Activities after Denver
July 19 doc.: IEEE /424r1 March 2006 Activities after Denver Telephone conference calls 4 times per week. Monday 8 AM Central (Vern is responsible for set-up.) Tuesday 9 AM Central (Jay is responsible for set-up.) Wednesday 8 AM Central (Phil is responsible for set-up.) Thursday 6 PM Central (Ismail is responsible for set-up.) Conference calls will be used for reviewing draft text as well as for comment resolution. Conference calls will be less frequent after the re-circulation ballot is released. Jay Bain & Vern Brethour Stuart J. Kerry - Philips Semiconductors, Inc.

9 What happens when? Week of 6 March: Denver meeting.
Week of 13 March: Calls begin on Monday! Week of 20 March: Comment resolution. Week of 27 March: Comment resolution. Week of 3 April: Assembly of the text. Week of 10 April: Final assembly of the text. Week of 17 April: Final Machinery for the Ballot. Week of 24 April: Re-Circulation Ballot. Week of 1 May : Re-Circulation Ballot finishes.
