Goals of the Redesign
1 – minimize floor-floor height without changing floor-ceiling clearance
2 – avoid changing the architectural layout or façade, as well as the integration with phase I
3 – open up the layout of the floors by removing columns and shear walls from apartments and some parking areas
4 – improve the overall quality of life for occupants

7 ½” slab with a 40’ span, reduces the section depth by 1” per floor, but 40’ is not far enough to remove any columns or move shear walls
