Proper Graphing for Scatter Plots, Line Graphs
Identify the independent and dependent variables from your data. What are you trying to show with your data? Label the x-axis (independent variable). Label the y-axis (dependent variable) Label the unit for the x and y axis. Create a uniform scale for each axis. No breaks! Origin on graph doesn’t have to be 0, 0. Axis can start at a specific number. Include Legend if plotting more than one set of data. Plot points clearly using up most of the graph For Cellular Respiration Data: Independent variable = Time (minutes) Dependent variable = Oxygen Consumption (ml) y-axis scale may need to go from -.03 to 1.02 intervals .03
