Resting metabolic rate (RMR), maximal nonshivering thermogenesis (NSTmax) and NST in Swiss mice exposed to a decrease in ambient temperatures. 2w- or 10w-CTRL: control mice housed at 23°C for 2 (N=8) or 10 weeks (N=8); COLD: the mice exposed to a consecutive decrease in ambient temperatures (15, 8, 0, –8 and –15°C, 2 weeks of each, N=8 for each temperature).
