File: ebusiness_ref.PPT 2 Yogi Schulz e-Business Projects BizTalk r BizTalk is an industry initiative started by Microsoft and supported by a wide range of organizations. r BizTalk is not a standards body, but a community of standards users, with the goal of driving the rapid, consistent adoption of XML to enable electronic commerce and application integration. r BizTalk is defining the BizTalk Framework, a set of guidelines for how to publish schemas in XML and how to use XML messages to easily integrate software programs together in order to build rich new solutions. r Further reference at BizTalk: –www.biztalk.org

File: ebusiness_ref.PPT 3 Yogi Schulz e-Business Projects Commerce Extensible Markup Language cXML r Commerce XML (cXML) is an open Internet-based standard for e-commerce. cXML provides an infrastructure that will streamline the process of digitally exchanging catalog content and transactions in a secure manner. r cXML supports all supplier content and catalog models, including buyer-managed, supplier-managed, content management services, electronic marketplaces, and web-based sourcing organizations. r cXML is based on the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) XML standard with its associated request/response processes. r Further reference at Ariba: –www.ariba.com

File: ebusiness_ref.PPT 5 Yogi Schulz e-Business Projects Electronic Business XML ebXML r The United Nations body for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) have joined forces to initiate a worldwide project to standardize XML business specifications. r UN/CEFACT and OASIS have established the Electronic Business XML initiative to develop a technical framework that will enable XML to be utilized in a consistent manner for the exchange of all electronic business data. r A primary objective of ebXML is to lower the barrier of entry to electronic business in order to facilitate trade, particularly with respect to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and developing nations.
