Investing in what works
The Challenge: Educators too often invest great effort and resource in practices that are ineffective. Effective Leadership: Adopt a policy that defines BOTH standards and process for selecting practices. Standards… A practice: Is focused on core educational goal Is defined with replicable precision Comes with a clear professional development plan Includes a formal “fidelity” measure Has peer reviewed research supporting effectiveness Is demonstrated to work in local schools Process Teams Forms indicating that each of the standards have been considered.

Addresses a core outcome (reading, math, writing, behavior) Defined with precision (more than ideology) Clear professional development procedures Data system for measuring fidelity (continuous improvement) Evidence-based (peer reviewed research) More efficient and more effective than what we already do Organizational systems to support sustainability are defined Field-test with pilot schools demonstrates feasibility and impact.
