Fig. 1 The position of the patient is shown in a lateral thoracotomy position, and the insert shows the sites of trocar insertion. No. 1 is the sire of a 10 mm trocar for camera insertion and later insertion of a chest tube if desired. Site 2 is for a 5 mm operating port, and if the need arises for clip application at this angle, a 10 mm port can be exchanged. A 10 mm port has been inserted through the no. 3 site at each procedure for clip application.
