Figure 1 Evolution of pelvic pain during assisted reproduction technology (ART) procedures in women with endometriosis (n = 102, blue) and disease-free women (n = 104, green). Four time points were studied: [1] baseline, before oral contraceptive product (OCP) synchronization treatment; [2] synchronization evaluation, before stimulation, during OCP treatment; [3] stimulation, at the end of the gonadotropin administration period; and [4] postretrieval, 3 weeks after oocyte retrieval. (A) The total VAS score is the sum of the different pelvic pain VAS scores. Pain related to (B) dysmenorrhea, (C) dyspareunia, (D) noncyclic pelvic pain, (E) gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, and (F) and low urinary (LU) tract symptoms was evaluated with a VAS (visual analogue scale). (G) Trend for VAS change in women with endometriosis and disease-free women for the different pain symptoms: dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, noncyclic chronic pelvic pain, GI symptoms, and LU tract symptoms. VAS change corresponds to the difference between the VAS scores at the postretrieval and baseline evaluations. ∗P<.05; ∗∗P<.005; ∗∗∗P<.001.
