2. Did you know…
In 2006, 28% of women aged 20 to 24 were attending university, compared to 22% of men, which means more woman are attending University than Men

3. Did you know…
During the recent economic downturn in 2008/2009, nearly one out of every four High School dropouts in the labour market were unable to find a job.
For those HS dropouts who did find work, their earnings were less than those in the same occupation who had a high school diploma.

4. Did you know…
That 83 % of employers look for volunteer work when hiring AND…. only 34% of high school students actively volunteer!

5. Did you know…
Marks matter. Youth with very low marks in high school were much more likely than those with average to high marks to drop out and not return to graduate.

6. Did you know…
High school dropouts (whether or not they had returned to school) and young people who had entered but did not complete a postsecondary program earned less than the average salary.

Young people from visible minority groups were more likely to participate in postsecondary education, especially university.
AND
More students in Urban areas attended university than those living in rural areas – probably because of proximity!

Also, rural students were less likely to continue their schooling after high school than students from Urban areas…and

For those that did go on to post secondary, more attended a college or private vocational school than attended universities. This may have been because for rural students colleges and private vocational schools are more likely to be closer to home than universities.

That there is a good chance that the job you will be doing in 10 years has not even been invented yet? Cool eh? This is mainly because of technologies that haven’t even been invented yet!

12. Did you know…
On average, people who graduate from a Post Secondary program (regardless of whether they had delayed postsecondary attendance following high school graduation) earn more money than those who didn’t!

That at graduation only 10% of students plan to go directly to work…….
The reality is, 65% of high school graduates, go directly to work. (that doesn’t mean you can’t go on to PSE later though!)

That the more post secondary education your parents have the greater the chance you will also attend post secondary!
But, even if your parents haven’t gone on to
PSE, YOU can!

That if your parents think that going on to post secondary is important, the chances you’ll go beyond high school is twice as great!
This even happens if you’re marks aren’t that high! Why? (Maybe because they keep bugging you until you do) 

70 % of grade 12 students think they are going on to post secondary
BUT
Only 34 % do!
And
Of that 34% only ½ graduate in the program they started in!

Almost one young adult in seven drops out of postsecondary education.

That if you spend more than 3 hours a week on homework now, your chances of successfully completing your post secondary courses are far greater! (1/2 of the students who dropped out of University reported that they did less than 3 hours of homework a week while in high school……So, crack those books!)

19. Did you know…
Survey data suggest that the first year of a postsecondary program is critical for young people. This is partially due to study patterns, academic performance and to their ability to meet deadlines….BUT
Was also because many felt they were in the wrong program!
