Ballad of the Green Berets (song lyrics)
Background Information: SGT. Barry Sadler- Singer, songwriter, and author, he was also a Green Beret who became famous for his "Ballad of the Green Berets." He wrote the song while recuperating from a leg wound received in Vietnam, and was the number one hit single in He wrote many other songs and a series of novels about a mercenary soldier. He was killed by a gunshot wound he suffered while riding in a cab in Guatemala. Questions remain about his injury and subsequent death.
