Cattle hogs, corn, and tobacco were sent on boats from the Ohio River to New Orleans via the Mississippi River to sell overseas or to the east coast. The Constitution did not address the purchase of land by a president. Jefferson believed in literal interpretation of the Constitution. New land was needed for farmers What was the final outcome?
