Leadership Transitions
Debrief with outgoing Leadership Status of League Thank you Elizabeth! The Constituent Leadership League Committee felt that this webinar was important to begin with for Presidents. As a President, it is important that you meet with the outgoing leadership. One way to do this transition is to have a meeting. This meeting can be informal and allows for communication about the position. It is also good to provide any templates for s, meetings, annual meetings, elections. One thing about the meeting. Now, not only do you need to meet with the outgoing President but also with the entire board. Some people have retreats. It is important to have committee members available at this meeting, too. That would be nice if you could have this but if not, block a few hours for a board transition meeting. It is important to update the board on the status of the league, not only full or provisional but also financial viability. Orientation meeting

Bylaws Familiarize yourself with Bylaws
Important for leadership to read the whole document At the leadership transition meeting, it is important to review the bylaws. Bylaws should be reviewed every year and by the entire board. You could pass out a copy of the bylaws at the transition meeting.
5
Elections Scheduling Promoting Following the Bylaws
The bylaws specify elections. These should be held annually. You want to stagger board positions. You do not want the majority of the board leaving at the same time. Solicit nominations. If you do not have a nominating committee, you should form one. This committee is in the bylaws and has been instrumental in soliciting nominations. Use your members to solicit nominations.

Board Meetings Planning elections Setting strategic path
Creating the Annual Report Updating bylaws, when needed Planning workshops and events Important to work with your Board for: Follow the bylaws for board meetings. These meetings can either be face to face or via conference meeting platform, such as Adobe Connect, Zoom, WebEx. Board meetings should be used for planning workshops, annual meetings and elections and reviewing the strategic planning, You might even have a education meeting. Remember review the strategic plan noting progress as this will help with completing the Annual Report.
7
Annual Report Reports are due to NLN at the end of January each year
Shows the state of the League Determines status of League each year Next webinar will focus solely on the Annual Report It is important that you complete the annual report. The President should not be expected to complete the report. No one should hold this responsibility. For example, the budget could be assigned to the treasurer and financial committee. Be complete and thorough when completing this annual report. Remember if it is not documented, then it is not completed. You do not want your league on provisional status or in jeopardy of losing affiliation.
8
Strategic Plan Review previous year’s plan and analyze results
Set the direction of the League for the next year Determines priorities for the League At the leadership transition meeting, you want to review the previous year’s strategic plan, look at the results and plan for the new year. You should review and update this meeting at every board meeting. Make your priorities clear and who is responsible for accomplishing that goal.
