Drag in Polydisperse Gas-Solid Suspensions
Sankaran Sundaresan, Chemical Engineering Department, Princeton University Princeton, NJ 08648 Computationally generated drag correlations are available for monodisperse suspensions, but not for fixed beds and suspensions containing particles of different sizes. We use lattice-Boltzmann method to simulate low-Re flow in binary assemblies of spherical particles and characterize the drag forces. Friction coefficient in the low-Re Bidisperse and Polydisperse gas-particle mixtures: see Yin & Sundaresan, AICHE J., 55, (2009). Extension to moderate Re suspensions: see Holloway, Yin & Sundaresan, paper presented at the 2009 AICHE Annual Meeting, see
