Learning in the digital era (Oral presentation)
Student: Agustín Reyes (25) Grade: I°B Subject: English Teacher: Ángela Chaparro
2
Introduction We live in the digital age, a period in human history characterised by a shift from industrial production to information and computerisation, changing significantly business and social interactions. Today, there is too much information for anyone to handle, and that information becomes obsolete very quickly
3
Access to instant information has become a essential part of our personal and profesional lives. This also means that for providing deeper learning to students, teaching must be transformed and adapted to modern times.
4
But... what exactly is the digital era?
The current time frame in history where the use of digital sources has become prevalent and commonly use throughout the world. Most of our activities depend of technological information and comunication, from social activites, to business, to politics, and, of course, the cover I am going to be covering in this presentation; Learning.
5
Learning Learning is the relatively permanent change in a person’s knowledge or behavior due to experience. Acquiring knowledge and skills and having them readily available from memory so you can make sense of future problems and opportunities.
6
Digital Learning Digital learning refers to the process of learning with the help of digital content, platforms or facilitators. The evolve of learning increases the use of digital components more and more as more content becomes available. Pedagogy has also evolved, many teachers use digital sources as an integral part of teaching. And many students expand their ideas with them
7
Infinite Content The amount of content there is on the Internet is huge, and the access to it is inmediate, so logically the internet has become one of the main (if not the main) source of information for us human beings.
8
But, unfortunately, not all of it is true..
Fake news (and fake information in general) consists of deliberating disinformation via traditional or online media. often using sensationalist, dishonest, or outright fabricated headlines to increase readership. Fake news are something to beware when using the internet to get information.
9
Correct handling of the digital information
As we have seen over this presentation, learning requires disposition to acquire new knowledge and/or skills that can be useful in the future And with the recent technologies, this has been made a lot easier.
10
In the past, this was quite difficult...
Before all the technological advances happened, it was very difficult to get significant information on any topic. Now in the digital age, it's quite different
11
Conclusion By doing this presentation, I concluded that the digital sources are essential for any type of learning nowadays, and that the inmense amount of instant online content allows us to get significant information and/or learning in just a matter of seconds, and keep that for the rest of our lives. And that is something us human beings must use correctly. Just take care of the fake information and everything is alright.
