Timescales Draft Study published – 14th March 2017 Consultation closes – 30th June 2017 Final Study published – Autumn 2017 LTTP Market Studies presented the forecast future rail demand, which is tested for sensitivity with the known housing growth supplied by local authorities. The Route Studies Set out the strategic options which address the demands that are forecast to be placed on the UK railway network. It is cross industry process, so shouldn’t just be seen as NR’s view of the world. The outputs of the Route Study process will be: Long Term Strategy (up to 2044) Choices for funders (up to 2024) to feed into the Control Period 6 Initial Industry Advice Route Studies seek to identify the options available to accommodate the Conditional Outputs on the network: By making best use of existing capacity Assess the business case for interventions We published the Kent Study a couple of weeks ago and I’m very pleased to have the chance to come and talk to you about it today. 3 Route Study Priorities
Constraints Meeting service level conditional outputs compared with baseline infrastructure (on train and station capacity, frequency, journey times etc…) Understand the impacts of meeting gaps on: Performance, resilience, maintenance and other conditional outputs Toolkit of options: Timetabling, electrification, rolling stock capacity/configuration and type, lengthening, infrastructure, alternative solutions Out of scope: Performance against commitments, affordability of existing commitments, quality of rolling stock, pricing and ticketing, car parks and station facilities 24-Jul-19

5 Growth Key Headlines for Kent
Demand up can 2024 can largely be met by lengthening of existing services to maximum length. Beyond this there are no simple options to increase capacity on services to Charing Cross and Cannon Street – further work needed. Some stations are in the top 10 of national priorities for investment Lewisham, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill There are opportunities to improve connectivity and the resilience of the network. 24-Jul-19
