8 Hanging Fire Word connections: Hanging Fire is a phrase used to describe a lack of progress or stalled action. Originally, the phrase wa used to describe the brief moment between when the trigger of a gun is pulled and when the gunpowder actually ignites.

Develop a thematic statement that can be used as a topic sentence in an analysis of the poem Hanging Fire. Once you create your thematic statement, create an explanatory text using quotations from the poem to support your claims about the theme. Showcase the poems literary devices and author's choices as a way to support your statement. 5-6 sentences. Due at the end of class.
