7. Rules of War
Each side must follow the directions of General Gilmore immediately.
If you do not, you will go to another classroom to complete an essay.
Each army will be given a supply of paper ball ammunition. NO OTHER ITEMS MAY BE THROWN!
Once you are out, you must lie on the ground motionless and silently because you are dead.

8. *Any time a soldier enters No Man's Land the opposing army may open fire.
How the Battle Works
The lieutenants from each army will take turns rolling the dice
The number you roll determines the orders you give our side. You MUST follow the dice.
You MUST call each other by their position and last name
EX: General Gilmore, Lieutenant Springfield, Private Olyano
We will spend the rest of the period
experiencing trench warfare firsthand.
I NEED your help:
Rearrange the tables however you’d like into opposing sides with a “no man’s land” in the middle.
Appoint a lieutenant to lead your side, one artillery person and everyone else is a private.

What would some of the physical challenges be in the trenches? Mental?
Do you think this was a successful strategy for either side? Why or why not?
How does the idea of militarism relate to this kind of warfare?
What would be the hardest part of fighting in this type of war?
