Islam begins on the Arabian Peninsula The Prophet Mohammad – Founder of Islam Born in Mecca, Orphan at 6, becomes wealthy at 40 Believes the angel Gabriel speaks to him Mohammad believes he is the last of the Prophets and begins the Islam religion. Muslims practice Islam, and they call God Allah
