5 Checklist for Creating Your Brochure

6 How do we pull information for the brochure
How do we pull information for the brochure? How do we make it sound convincing?

7 Vocab Words: Proprietor: the owner of a business or holder of a property Prosperity: success, wealth Theocracy: a system of government in which religious leaders rule in the name of god Denomination: a branch of the Christian church Parliament: the legislative branch Democracy: a system of government in which the whole population has a voice Sustenance: Food or drink that is required for nourishment Dogma: a set of rules Haven: a safe place

8 Persuasive Brochure: You are a recruiter working for a company that tries to convince people to settle in the New World. For your colony to grow and prosper, you need people to settle the land. Create an advertisement brochure of the positive things about your colony to convince people to come settle there. The competition for settlers is tough, so include what is unique about your colony to convince people that it is the best colony.

9 Your Brochure Should Include:
Basic facts about your colony: founder, reason for founding, and date of founding people who settled it climate and geography economy/resources religious atmosphere political life other fascinating details that would make someone immigrate there Provides at least three major reasons people should move to your colony Includes persuasive language to make potentially non-beneficial qualities look beneficial to the immigrants

10 Group work: Work with your group. Talking to another group can distract them from their tasks and hinder their learning as well as your own. Direct your attention toward the other members of your group at all times. Stay on task. As interesting as the football game or tv show on last night is, you are in class and should remained focused on your group assignments.
