2. GDPFS – What is our mission?
The Global Data-processing and Forecasting System shall be the worldwide network of operational centres operated by WMO Members.
Its purpose shall be to make operationally available among WMO Members and relevant operational organizations defined products and services for applications related to weather, climate, water and environment.

3. WMO Strategic plan 2020-2023 Strategic objective 2.3:
Enable access to and use of numerical analysis and prediction products at all temporal and spatial scales through the WMO GDPFS
Focus in :
Advance the GDPFS to accommodate increased emphasis on probabilistic forecasting and coupled Earth system modelling to improve predictions over longer-time scales and climate simulations.
Further develop regulatory and guidance material governing the functioning of the GDPFS.
Enhance the GDPFS to enable all Members to develop and/or improve their own national predictive capabilities benefiting from advances in quantitative model- and impact-based forecasting products.

5. Immediate actions
Our immediate priority will be on improving and building on the solid foundation of the GDPFS system. The introduction of a revised and evolving Manual promotes the exchange of information and expertise across our community through:
Guidance to promote best practice and ensure all Members benefit from GDPFS.
Transfer to operations of new research innovations to improve existing capabilities, e.g. Transfer Coefficient Matrix (TCM) method in support of atmospheric transport and dispersion modelling.
Continued planned additions include centres for sub-seasonal forecasts, reanalysis and climate monitoring (with CCl), national and regional hydrological centres (with CHy), marine meteorological services and marine environmental emergencies (with JCOMM), space weather (with ICAO).
Consistent application of WMO Quality Management principles throughout GDPFS
Development of new strategy for cascading forecast process taking account of lessons learned from 10-year review of SWFDP
