Heads Good casts make better finished product Paint will not hide problems Clean and prep as needed before starting

Heads Patch holes and smooth problem areas Bake at 225 for 10 minutes

Heads Gently sand sculpey areas smooth Sand any other rough spots Fit neckplug Remove dust from head

Paint Acrylics Delta Ceramcoat, Folkart, Apple Barrell (no Americana) Cheap Washable Easy to mix

Brushes Taklon synthetic #6 or #8 for flesh/hair #0 for eyebrows, facial hair, etc… 10/0 spotter for eyes and detail Cheap brushes cause mental health problems Clean after each use Replace often!

Getting Started Organize yourself Place for brushes, paints, painted heads, tools

Prime? Color heads Slick heads Prime white if needed

Painting Flesh first #6 or #8 brush Thin coats, one at a time. Let dry between coats. DO NOT GLOB Use Exacto to pick bits that show up after first coat when dry

Painting After 3 coats of Flesh

Painting Hair next #6 or #8 brush Dont worry about perfection yet This is one coat, several coats may be needed

Painting #0 brush, rough in eyebrows and eye whites Only one coat on the eye whites at this time

Painting #10/0 brush add black eyeliner #10/0 brush, clean up hairline with flesh Dont worry if you have to fix your fix
