They are strong swimmers.
They can pick up smells by flicking their tongue in and out.
They can smell up to 5 miles (8km) away.
They usually have venom in their teeth as soon as they hatch.

The female komodo dragon lays up to 30 eggs.
They hatch after 8 months.

The shells are tough and leathery.
