3. Carbohydrates 2: Carbohydrates also store energy storage in cells
Plants store energy in the starch molecules, while animals store energy in the complex carbohydrate glycogen
Plant cell walls are composed of a complex carbohydrate called cellulose, animals are unable to break this down (fiber)

4. Carbohydrates 3: Some animals have an exoskeleton made of chitin
Chitin is also a component of the cell wall of some fungi
Carbohydrates form part of the molecular backbone of nucleic acids, and they are critical for maintain life

5. ATP ATP – Adenosine Triphosphate
ATP is the common energy currency of cells
Of all of the energy stored in the bonds of glucose, only 39% of it is transformed to ATP, the rest is lost as heat

ATP is a nucleotide composed of a nitrogen containing base and a 5 carbon sugar ribose, and three phosphate groups (tri-)
